Aadvark Crowdcube Crowdfunding Campaign

Aardvark Crowdfunding Case Study

We love teaming up with businesses whose mission is to create a sustainable planet. We had the pleasure to work with Aardvark, a UK based company, who have set their foot in the pet food market intending to make pet ownership sustainable. They approached us to shape up their campaign to raise capital for manufacturing their first batch of pet food. As a result, the Aardvark crowdcube crowdfunding campaign raised a whopping £300,000 – 600% more than their initial target of £50,000! Here’s how Drop Studio helped Aardvark gain crowdfunding success on Crowdcube.

Aardvark – The Brand

There are an estimated 500 million pet cats and dogs who consume 20% of the world’s meat every year. That’s 1/4 of the environmental damage which associates directly to the meat industry. As a result, to find sustainable dietary options for pets that had a smaller environmental footprint, Hugo Walters set on a mission to create Aardvark.

Aardvark has created pet food, which consists of protein derived from insects rather than animal meat. Their sustainable range of dry kibbles for dogs and cats is for pets to digest. It also fulfills their dietary and nutritional requirements. Along with their partnership with VC backed insect farm NextProtein, Aardvark aims to tap into the UK pet food market forecasted to grow to £2.9 billion in 2020.

Aardvark Crowdfunding – How Drop Studio supported them

The creative team at Drop Studio understood that there was a need to communicate the environmental impacts caused by the pet food industry. Subsequently, it was also important to address this problem by positioning Aardvark as a brand that is poised to make pet ownership sustainable. We created an illustrative video that highlighted environmental concern, increased pet ownership, and the premiumisation of Aardvark. In addition, we also created social assets for the brand.

Aardvark also enrolled in the Fundraising Accelerator Program. This in turn provided them with the tools to execute a successful crowdfunding campaign Crowdcube. Besides this, they also received our Investor Research, helping them to find potential investors.

Aardvark Crowdfunding – Their journey on Crowdcube

Aardvark hit its crowdfunding target of £50,000 within a few days of launch, raising a whopping £300,302. With 902 investors onboard, Aardvark was overfunding by 600% towards the end of their campaign.
