Remote healthcare has always been very valuable for patients, especially in poorer economies and remote locations. However, it took a global pandemic to truly realise the benefits of remote healthcare, when lockdowns and social distancing were in effect. This ‘new normal’ created due to COVID-19 made the team at PCL Health realise that the time had come for remote healthcare to be taken more seriously. As such, they decided to scale their existing platform (which was launched in 2018) to new heights. PCL Health chose to raise capital through crowdfunding on Crowdcube and partnered with us as their crowdfunding consultants. Here is their crowdfunding success story.
PCL Health The Brand
The founder of PCL Health started Poonya, a remote health-tracking platform, back in 2018 to remotely monitor her mother’s health and well-being. Since the launch, the platform has developed further and even includes the capability to bring hospital-level healthcare to a user’s mobile phone. Poonya uses health algorithms combined with sensors and proprietary apps to allow family members to proactively monitor the health of their loved ones, alongside carers and doctors, all remotely.
PCL Health completed 2 pilots with 65 people, received a letter of intent from a NHS Trust for a clinical trial and is also named as a supplier on Crown Commercial Services. The company also won the Innovative Start-up competition at Healthcare Unblocked in 2019. With such accolades under their belt, PCL Health now decided to take the crowdfunding route to raise funds which will be used for tech enhancement, running pilots and increasing working capital.

The PCL Health Crowdcube crowdfunding campaign was a hit. After going live, the brand started to gather investor interest and by the end of their crowdfunding campaign, PCL Health smashed their crowdfunding target by 157%, raising a total of £394,680.
